Amazon.com: Books: Learning Joy from Dogs Without Collars : A Memoir

I am trying to read this. I'm about to give up. I think it would be an interesting story if the author didn't write it like some twee harvard undergrad writing a paper for her sociology final. Within the first chapter alone there is insufferable reference to sociological theory, and the use of obscure and "academic" sounding words.

I don't think I'll make it past the first chapter. Shame about that.
